| HbsPrs2 Ab

The surface antigen of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) consists of three components: the S antigen, pre-S1 antigen, and pre-S2 antigen. Among these, the pre-S2 antigen is an integral part of the viral envelope. In patients with acute HBV infection, the pre-S2 antigen in the serum stimulates the production of the corresponding antibody (anti-PreS2) before viral clearance. However, in cases progressing toward chronic infection, this specific seroconversion does not occur. This suggests that anti-PreS2 may serve as a predictive marker for recovery from HBV infection, similar to anti-HBe, indicating a reduction in viral replication levels.
